Essie's 'Fiji'

I have heard so much hype about Essie's 'Fiji' and as a nail polish lover, I had to give it a try myself. I picked it up the other week whilst in Boots and I am SO glad I did! It is the most perfect baby pink colour and looks amazing against a tan which makes it perfect for summer . It can definitely be worn from day to night, I had been wearing Fiji in the day and was heading on a girls night out so added OPI Crown Me Already as an accent nail which is a combo I now adore. Essie are such great quality polishes, and I love the formula. Fiji dries opaque in two coats, which I didn't think it would when looking in the bottle as it looks quite sheer. I have been wearing this on my nails for a few days now and with the help of my Sally Hansen top coat, it is still looking as perfect as it did on day one. The only criticism I have is that the brush is slightly too big for my little finger nail, but that is me being very picky!

I absolutely love this colour and it definitely lives up to all the hype! Have you tried Fiji? What did you think? Or do you have another favourite Essie polish?

NOTD: No.7 Glitter Top Coat

If you saw my most recent haul post, you will know that I picked up one of the new No.7 Glitter Top Coats and I said that I was planning on doing a separate post dedicated to the polish. So here it is!

There's two colours in this limited edition range, Gold and Silver, I picked up Silver but I am definitely going to be trying out the Gold too!

The varnish is basically a clear top coat polish with pieces of glitter running through it. What I love so much about this polish, is that there is different sized pieces, some smaller and some chunky, giving a very 3D and scattered effect on the nail. I have talked before about my beloved Barry M Silver Glitter polish, but I think this one mayyy have topped it, due to the chunkier pieces of glitter, which reminds me a lot of Essie's Set In Stones.

I wore it over Leighton Denny's Babydoll (a baby pink colour and a combo that I love) and although I think this would look lovely over any colour, I think it could also be worn alone and layered up to create a fully silver nail.

Overall I am really impressed with this polish. It retails at £8, but if you use one of the No.7 £5 vouchers that are flying around at the moment, it comes to £3, an absolute steal!

What do you think of glitter top coats? Do you have a favourite?

Review: Mac Scene Eyeshadow

I usually always go for a brown or gold eyeshadow on my lid because as I have blue eyes, I find that this is what suits me best. Recently I have really been getting into taupe's, silvers and grey's, and find that done in the right way, can create a more dramatic and intense look than with a brown.

I was having a browse on the Mac website and came across Scene, a muted blue/grey toned colour. I think this will work lovely as part of a soft smokey eye bringing it into the crease, but won't be as harsh as using a black.
As all Mac eyeshadow's are, this is nicely pigmented but easy to work with and blendable.

 Left- Blended Out    Right- Swatch

I definitely think as an all over lid colour, this wouldn't work for my eyes, but for a subtle hint in the crease or along the lash line, it will work nicely. I am planning on using this blended out with a little bit of Mac's Cork on the brush, to warm up the eye a little.

Have you discovered any new eyeshadow's recently? Do you have a favourite from Mac or another brand?

NOTD: Sparkles

I love glitter polishes and wanted to try out having complete glitter nails, rather than my trade mark of having just one accent nail painted with glitter polish. Searching through my collection, I decided on a silver glitter as I am really into lighter colours on the nails for summer.

This is the look I came up with. I used two coats of Barry M's 'silver glitter', on top of a white base coat to make the sparkles really stand out! I love these nails, they are so sparkly and girly, great for a night out!

This polish is a limited addition, but is still available to buy on the Boots website for £3.99.

Here are some other gorgeous silver glitter polishes for different budgets you could use to achieve this look;

Miss Sporty - Transformers Sparkle Touch £1.99
Models Own- Glitter Juicy Jules £5.00
Essie - Set In Stones £12.99

NOTD: Royal Blue

I have really been trying to stay out of my comfort zone when it comes to my nails. I almost always go for a coral or pink nail, so I thought id carry on the blue theme from my previous post, but jazz it up a little!

The royal blue colour is from No.7 and is called 'Sing the Blues', I actually really like this colour and how boldy it stands out. (It is also very shiney, even without a top coat!) On my ring finger I used China Glaze 'Lorlei's Tiara' a gorgeous silver glitter with blue flecks.

NOTD: Girls Night Out

Tonight, I am going on a girly night out with my friends and nothing completes an outfit like a glittery nail polish. The dress I'm wearing is a coral pink colour, so I complimented this with Leighton Denny's 'Babydoll' on all of my nails, then Barry M 'Silver Glitter' as an accent on my ring finger. I think this is a really girly look, and perfect for a night out :)
